I decided to post this page because a number of athletes from the front range shot with us last year so we thought we’d give a sample of what some of the shots were. We’re wrapping up Project Megan. She’s got her first professional fitness shoot this next Friday for Mixed Martial Arts. In the mean time, we decided to add a little fashion to her portfolio so she has some flexibility when she signs the next couple weeks. We brought in Makeup Artist-extraordinaire Jo Dang to help out. A lot of seniors forego a professional makeup artist when they are getting their senior pictures done. But, with the right one, you can add a dramatic portrait set or two to your shoot to give you a totally different look and feel. These pictures were taken in our new Studio build out area. We have a great light that comes in late afternoon and even during the day with our lighting equipment we can create the same effect. So here she is in your fashion/glam photoshoot from Monday night! In our Senior model program, we tend to push the limits of creativity to create compelling and interesting images. We do this for two reasons. One, we can show what our staff is capable of, but more importantly we get to push our creativity and many of our looks and styles for the subsequent years come out of our experimental model sessions. Senior Pictures have become so boring and routine at so many studios. Same pose, same set, same bad post processing. We didn’t become photographers to create McDonald’s-like cookie cutter images. Plus, it’s a lot of fun to shoot new styles, new sports. 1. We want to create pieces of art for your walls, not 8×10′s and 5×7′s that gather dust in drawers or in albums that people in your life never get to see. We want you to display them on your wall and hand them down through the generations. Portraits of you and your family can and should be artwork you cherish more than the art galleries or home decorating store purchases.

2. We don’t believe in can’ed sets, poses and finishes. Photography should be unique to the individuals and families and capture you and unique aspects of your life and personality. The factory approach to photography simply can not provide unique portraits that truly represent you and your family. We do have signature looks our clients want but each session incorporates new creativity expressing our client and we’re happiest when it’s something new.

3. The world is a big place and rife with stories, backdrops and amazing locations. We do shoot in our studios for specific looks and controlled lighting, but nothing beats the great outdoors, be it downtown or Colorado’s spectacular outdoor views. We’re blessed to live in one of the most amazingly scenic places in the world…it’s a part of our lives.

4. We guarantee our work. From the shoot to the end product. If you’re not completely satisfied with your photo shoot, we’ll reshoot you and if you’re still not happy we’ll refund the full sitting fee. We want you to be ecstatic with your photos.

5. If you’re looking for the cheapest photographer out there, we’re probably not the right choice. That is because we don’t take shortcuts on our post processing, shooting, printing, etc. We don’t release anything to market that hasn’t gone through our full, detailed process. We pay attention to details in order to provide the perfect set of portraits. It’s easy to tell when your photographer takes shortcuts, skin tones turn orange, colors are pumped up for the sake of pumping them up, all the photos in their albums look the same, same poses, same sets and the skin looks plastic because it’s processed through automatic actions that takes away all skin detail in an attempt to remove blemishes. Or, they just hand you prints straight out of the camera, no lighting, no processing and walk onto the next client. They “document the event” but they are not portraits.

6. We are commercial fashion and sports portrait photographers that take pictures of children, seniors and families. We approach all of our portraits as if they are intended for magazine covers or gallery shows. We provide the quality you seen in professionally lit and retouched images you see in fashion magazine editorials, covers and sports magazine covers. If you compare our images, you’ll see this is the primary reason our images look so different than the rest of the market.

7. We work with you to design your shoot from stylizing the outfits to helping you design your print products to match your interior decorating style. Even down to helping you hang the portraits on your wall if you need us to .

8. One of the most fascinating things for us as a photographer is the people you meet. We absolutely love meeting people and getting to know our clients. We want a long term friendship and we try to keep up with the lives of all our clients, be it through facebook or the personal relationships we’ve formed. And we share parts of our lives with our clients be it our daughter’s latest antics or things that are happening to us. Nothing is greater than seeing people and families change, grow and mature through the years. We want to celebrate the key moments in your life with all the amazing people we’ve been lucky enough to meet along the way.

9. We want to redefine the traditional portrait. If it’s been “done to death” chances are, unless our clients absolutely want it, we want to shoot new and different. The creative process is what drives us and something new that we’ve never seen is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a photographer.

10. We have kids, aged 6 to 30. We know how quickly they grow up and leave the house. We know how much life keeps us so busy it’s hard some times to take a step back and look at all that has happened. All to soon it’s behind us and we have just fading memories of those cherished times. Memories are precious and with photography, we want to create images to help keep those memories forever.

One of the most important factors, not on the list is we want to have fun. If you read our reviews, you’ll see that in every comment. We left corporate America to be able to create, laugh and do something we love. Don’t let this happen to you!

Sports and Fashion are the two primary reasons I’m a photography today. As a high school senior we go through a right of passage to college, the military, sports or work the 18th year of our lives. We reach a key milestone and our live forever changes. Choices open up and paths present themselves as we begin to figure out what we will do, be, etc. We shoot a ton of sports portraits, and when we started, most of what we saw resembled this…

Don’t get me wrong, the letterman jacket is a great thing. But, it does not show off you, your life, your hardwork. It doesn’t tell a story or recreate big plays of your life. The old senior picture of the letterman jacket merely shows what you’ve “earned” as a result of 1000′s of hours of training, practice and playing. And as a senior photo, it’s a bit of a let down. We felt your senior pictures should be about you, not some factory where 1000′s of seniors have posed before you. And if you play sports, they should capture your athleticism, power, skill, tenacity and love for the sport. When you look back 5,10,20 years which image is going to remind you, your children, your parents of who you were as an athlete.

We worked on a few trash the dress locations for Jenae’s model comp card update. Jenae is one of our Senior models for 2012. Her mom and her went bargain shopping for some killer dresses and we wandered a bit downtown taking some sunset pictures as well as dusk down town. Jenae looked amazing and has obviously been working on her posing. Denver’s fashion Senior Photographer was on hand to capture it all. Finally Denver is starting to be reasonable in the weather department.

We are continuing our evolution of our ballet look for this year. Two more “action” looks coming shortly from one of our senior models. Thanks to Patricia who helped us out with some younger photos. Stay tuned, ballet photos for your studio are about to get a well needed face lift . Our normal Senior Pictures business is fun, amazing and wonderful. We get to shoot some of the most fascinating and interesting people. But, there is another key part of our business in gymnastics. We work with clubs to create some amazing sports images and we carry back those techniques and styles for our signature senior sports looks that makes us the best choice for sports portraits in the front range. Well, we’ve decided to expand into dance.



I’ve always bee intrigued by the ballet and lyrical dancing. The grace and artistry with what appears to be effortless athleticism makes this a such an interesting subject to shoot. Pair that with the classical art of Monet and many, many, many painters and you get some of the most compelling subject matter for photographers. Joe McNally claims to travel with Ballerinas just to have them available to insert into scenes More on this to come, but here are our first styles we’re introducing for the older ballet students and kids and early teens are next! The photo below has been turned into a pastel by our graphic artists.
